Disabled Orphans Care Program

IMEC’s primary goal is to improve health care for the world's poor. Among the poor in the developing world there is a stark hierarchy of need, and at the very bottom are disabled orphans. As children, they cannot care for themselves; as orphans, they have no family to care for them; and as the disabled, their need for care is far greater than that of their peers. Far too often, these children find themselves rejected by their communities; thrown away, with no advocates or support. The few places that can take them in find themselves overburdened by the increased need for care that these children bring.

While the children themselves need more care than others, the nature of that care is often fairly basic. Ordinary medical supplies, wheelchairs, beds, basic pediatric equipment, and simple physical therapy tools can create a base for care that can make a truly miraculous difference in the lives of these, the poorest of the poor.

IMEC's Disabled Orphans Care Program provides pediatric equipment, physical therapy equipment, basic dental care, exam rooms, classroom, cafeteria, and bedroom suites. In essence, this program enables the receiving orphanage to offer a whole new level of care for these, the neediest and most helpless of children. With your help, we can make a difference in their lives.
