Where We Serve: The Americas
IMEC has supplied hundred of hospitals in over seventy countries around the world. In 2007, IMEC helped doctors and nurses in Caribbean, Central and South American countries such as the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Nicaragua, and Peru.
Here is an example of the projects we've done in the Americas:
Nuestra Señora de Regla Hospital, in Baní, Dominican Republic:
with Infante Sano & ODRI
On April 25th, the Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Regla in Baní, Dominican Republic received two containers of medical equipment and supplies for their infant and maternal care department. This shipment was the end result of six months of work combining the efforts of Infante Sano (a non-profit organization devoted to improving health care for mothers and infants in Central and South America), ODRI (the Dominican International Resources Organization), and IMEC to bring improved health care to the mothers and children of Baní. Serving more than 100,000 people in Baní, Nuestra Señora de Regla Hospital also functions as a referral hospital for several local clinics and two nearby hospitals. The equipment provided includes a full nursery suite offering several levels of care, a neonatal resuscitation suite and labor & delivery suites. This is the first project that IMEC has done with Infante Sano, and the latest of many with ODRI.
“...there has been change in our hospital, not only with equipment but also there has been a change in attitude, behavior and clinical practice from both the medical and nursing staff. This makes everything better for the patients we serve.” -Dr. Ismael Urbaez"
